Airbus Launches Second A320 Assembly Line in Toulouse
The European aerospace manufacturer opened a second final assembly line for the A320 family at the Jean-Luc Lagardère site on Monday, in the presence of Guillaume Faury and the French Minister of Transport. This facility embodies Airbus's strategy to have ten final assembly lines worldwide by 2026, to support its ramp-up to 75 aircraft per month.
Airbus inaugurated on Monday the second modernized final assembly line for the A320 family at the Jean-Luc Lagardère site in Toulouse. This line joins the first assembly line commissioned in July 2023 in the same building, the former headquarters of A380 production. It completes an industrial network spread across four international sites: four lines in Hamburg (Germany), two in Mobile (USA), two in Tianjin (China), and two in Toulouse (France). This global infrastructure is designed to support the manufacturer's planned ramp-up to a production rate of 75 A320 family aircraft per month.

The new line incorporates digital controls, automated logistics, and robotics to optimize workflow and working conditions. The first Toulouse line currently employs about 700 people. The second line will gradually increase its output until reaching full capacity, eventually bringing the total workforce of the two lines at the site to nearly 1,500 people. This structure follows the recent expansions at Mobile and Tianjin.
