Airbus Secures Contract for Ten H125s with U.S. Customs
Airbus has finalized a contract to supply ten H125 helicopters for the air and maritime operations of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP AMO). These aircraft will enhance the operational capabilities of border and public safety services in the United States.
A Contract for Ten Light Aircraft for Border Operations
The contract, finalized on July 7, 2026, involves ten H125 helicopters designated for the Air and Marine Operations of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. These helicopters will be deployed in critical missions that include law enforcement, border security, and emergency rescue operations. The H125 is a light, single-rotor helicopter designed to operate in extreme environments. According to Airbus, the aircraft provides excellent visibility and mission versatility suitable for surveillance and tactical intervention operations. The ordered helicopters are manufactured at the Airbus facility in Columbus, Mississippi.
Safety Systems and Operational Capabilities
The H125 incorporates advanced safety systems, including a dual-channel Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC), an engine data recorder, and a dual hydraulic flight control system. These features reduce the pilot's workload during complex tactical flights. The aircraft is positioned by Airbus as a world-leading light single-rotor helicopter, capable of operating at low cost. This new acquisition is intended to support the modernization of the CBP AMO fleet and enhance its operational capabilities.
An Established Collaboration with CBP
Bart Reijnen, head of North America region for Airbus Helicopters, emphasized that this order reflects an established collaboration between Airbus and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. According to him, the choice of the H125 demonstrates the trust placed in the aircraft to carry out critical public safety missions under demanding conditions.
