BermudAir Orders 10 Airbus A220-300s to Launch New Transatlantic Routes
BermudAir was unveiled as a new Airbus customer on July 22, 2026, during the Farnborough Air Show, placing its first order with the European manufacturer. The Bermudian airline ordered ten A220-300s, an order that was anonymously recorded in March before its official disclosure.
BermudAir has signed for the acquisition of ten Airbus A220-300s, marking its very first order from the manufacturer. Although this order was registered in March 2026 under confidentiality, it was formally announced on July 22, 2026, at Farnborough. The A220-300 will feature a three-class configuration with 135 seats and will enable the airline to open direct, non-stop routes to destinations across the Atlantic and the Caribbean. This purchase marks the first time the A220 enters the Bermudian and Caribbean operational market, thus opening a new region for the aircraft family.

The A220-300 offers a range of up to 3,600 nautical miles (6,700 km), allowing BermudAir to directly connect communities in Bermuda, the Caribbean, and North America. The aircraft reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions per seat by 25% compared to previous generation aircraft. According to Adam Scott, founder and CEO of BermudAir, the A220 'will allow the company to unlock new non-stop routes and directly connect Atlantic and Caribbean destinations with flexible scheduling.'
Strengthening Airbus's Position in the Region
This acquisition solidifies Airbus's presence in a distinct operational environment and demonstrates, according to Airbus Executive Vice President of Sales for Commercial Aircraft Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, how the efficiency of the A220 'supports tailored business models' in regional development. By the end of June 2026, 526 A220s had been delivered to more than 25 global operators, while the order book for the aircraft stood at over 1,100 orders.
