JCDecaux and Telespazio Progress in the AWARE Project
The AWARE project, supported by the European Union and led by Telespazio France, has conducted a new demonstration of its public alert system in Plaisir, France.
A New Milestone for the European AWARE Project
The European AWARE project, funded by the European Union and orchestrated by Telespazio France, has reached a new milestone with a demonstration at Plaisir, in the facilities of JCDecaux. The system aims to enhance citizen safety by broadcasting real-time alerts through the Galileo constellation. This device is integrated into JCDecaux's digital urban furniture, allowing instant relay of warning messages in case of danger. On November 4, 2025, the demonstration simulated an accident involving a truck carrying hazardous materials, showing the system's ability to quickly disseminate prevention messages.
Integration with Galileo Emergency Warning Satellite Service
The AWARE system, connected to the Galileo Emergency Warning Satellite Service (EWSS), aims to complement existing alert mechanisms by displaying messages on digital screens in public spaces. The project involves several European partners, including JCDecaux, Telespazio France, CNES, and other organizations from four different countries. Satellite technology ensures the broadcasting of alerts even in the event of terrestrial network failures, thus providing reliable coverage for civil authorities.
JCDecaux's Role in Enhancing Urban Safety
As a global leader in outdoor communication, JCDecaux, present in over 80 countries, actively participates in the AWARE project, which fits into a broader approach of connected and secure cities. According to representatives from Telespazio France and JCDecaux, this initiative marks a significant advancement in the protection of European populations. By integrating Galileo technology into urban furniture, the project aims to strengthen prevention and crisis management systems at the European level.
