JCDecaux Completes Deployment of a Public Restroom Network in Paris
JCDecaux has completed the installation of an automated public restroom network in Paris, according to a company statement.
Completion of Next-Generation Automated Public Restrooms
JCDecaux SE (Euronext Paris: DEC) has announced the completion of the deployment of next-generation automated public restrooms in Paris after 18 months of work. The project, initiated by a contract with the City of Paris in 2022, aimed to progressively replace older models. In collaboration with its partners Enedis and Eau de Paris, about seven restrooms were installed each week across various city districts. This process ensured a stable service per district. Teams worked continuously, six days a week, to set up 417 restrooms, with an extension planned to 435 locations.
Rapid Deployment Critical for 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games
The rapid deployment was particularly critical at the sites of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games prior to their opening. The network's availability rate was maintained at 90% during the works. JCDecaux adopted innovative methods, such as tapping into live electrical grids with Enedis, to minimize intervention time and ensure service continuity. Despite logistical constraints, the service maintained an efficiency rate of 98%, with over 3,000 interventions per week.
Doubling of New Restroom Capacity Leads to Increased Usage
The capacity of the new restrooms has doubled, leading to an increase in usage with about 2.5 million entries per month. The JCDecaux Group, a global leader in the field of automatically maintained restrooms, also manages such facilities in other cities like Berlin and San Francisco. JCDecaux's revenue for 2024 reached 3,935.3 million euros, with a performance of 1,868.3 million euros for the first half of 2025.
