SAS Orders 18 Airbus A330-900s to Renew its Long-Haul Fleet
Scandinavian airline SAS has signed a firm agreement with Airbus for 18 A330-900s. This purchase is part of the group's fleet renewal strategy and is intended to support the expansion of its international network.
SAS has placed an order for 18 Airbus A330-900s from the European manufacturer. The agreement was formalized today during a ceremony in Copenhagen in the presence of Anko van der Werff, CEO of SAS, and Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President in charge of Sales at Airbus Commercial Aircraft. The aircraft will be deployed to strengthen existing high-capacity routes and open new international connections, according to the press release.

The A330neo, equipped with the latest generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, offers a 25% reduction in fuel consumption, CO₂ emissions, and operating costs compared to competing aircraft from the previous generation, according to Airbus. The aircraft can travel up to 8,100 nautical miles (15,000 km) non-stop. The A330 family is already capable of using up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with a goal of 100% by 2030.
More Than 1,950 Orders Accumulated for the A330 Family
As of the end of May 2026, the A330 family had accumulated more than 1,950 orders from 133 customers worldwide. This new order from SAS confirms the sustained demand for this segment of medium and large long-haul aircraft.
