Shohin Airlines Orders Four Airbus A320neo and A321neo Aircraft for the First Time
Shohin Airlines, based in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, announced on July 21, 2026, an order for four aircraft from the Airbus A320neo family, marking its first purchase from the European manufacturer. This order, consisting of two A320neos and two A321neos, was listed in Airbus's order book since the end of June as an undisclosed order.
A Major First Order for Shohin Airlines
Shohin Airlines has formalized a purchase agreement for four aircraft: two Airbus A320neos configured with 176 seats and two Airbus A321neos with 196 seats in both business and economy classes. Registered at the end of June 2025, the Tajik airline aims to expand its network of regional and international routes while enhancing its global presence.
Zafar Ahmadzoda, CEO of Shohin Airlines, stated that 'signing our first contract with Airbus represents a turning point not only for Shohin Airlines but also for the entire civil aviation sector in Tajikistan.' The fleet is intended to form 'the backbone' of an operation that is 'modern, efficient, and sustainable from an environmental standpoint.'
Partnership Embedded in Growth Strategy
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales at Airbus Commercial Aircraft, emphasized that 'the arrival of a new client into the Airbus family is always a moment of pride.' He added that Airbus 'looks forward to supporting Shohin Airlines' vision to connect Tajikistan with the world' and that this agreement 'marks the beginning of a strong partnership.'
The manufacturer commits to supporting the airline in 'fleet optimization, operational excellence, and customer experience' from the start of its services.
Features of the Ordered Aircraft
The A320 family remains the most ordered single-aisle aircraft in the world, with over 20,000 orders to date. The aircraft delivered to Shohin Airlines will offer a minimum of 20% reduction in fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions compared to previous generations of single-aisle aircraft, while offering one of the widest cabins in the market according to Airbus.
