bioMérieux launches Spinchip, a troponin test in 10 minutes for emergency departments

A troponin test from a drop of blood, result in 10 minutes

bioMérieux announced on September 24, 2026 the launch of Spinchip, a compact immunoassay platform designed for point-of-care testing outside traditional laboratories. Its first test, Spinchip hs-cTnI, enables high-sensitivity measurement of cardiac troponin I to guide the management of adult patients presenting suspected acute myocardial infarction.

According to the company, the test delivers a result from a single drop of capillary blood taken from the fingertip, with a turnaround time of approximately 10 minutes. The solution is designed to connect to hospital information systems to facilitate traceability and integration of results into the care pathway.

The Spinchip hs-cTnI test obtained CE marking under the IVDR regulation. It is initially launched in Europe, before progressive deployment outside the European Union.

A milestone in the GO-28 plan following the acquisition of Spinchip Diagnostics

The launch comes one year after bioMérieux's acquisition of Norwegian company Spinchip Diagnostics. The group presents this initiative as a new milestone in the development of its point-of-care testing portfolio.

"With Spinchip, we bring our long-standing expertise in immunoassays directly to emergency departments, as close as possible to the patient," said Pierre Boulud, Chief Executive Officer of bioMérieux. The solution is part of the company's GO-28 strategic plan and is presented as contributing to the group's growth beyond 2028.

The product is being presented at the congress of the European Society for Emergency Medicine (EUSEM) in Paris. Based in Marcy-l'Étoile, bioMérieux is present in 46 countries and serves more than 160 countries through a network of distributors.
