Coface Share Declines 2% but Retains Nearly 9% Gains Over Three Months
The credit insurance provider specializing in B2B corporate risks is losing ground this Thursday morning, as European markets are trading in negative territory amid rising bond yields. The decline occurs despite a positive quarterly earnings report that remains solid, with the stock having accumulated significant gains in recent weeks.
A 2.13% Decline That Contrasts With a Quarterly Performance of Nearly 9%
Coface is down 2.13% in trading, at €16.58, while the SBF 120 itself declines 0.78% in a market under pressure. Today's pullback erases only a small fraction of recent momentum: the stock still shows more than 4% gains over the week and nearly 9% over three months, a solid performance for a credit insurance value. Its ranking in the index (102nd out of 120 members) nevertheless reflects relative underperformance compared to the rest of the SBF 120 today.
Market conditions are partly responsible: European bond yields are rising following robust economic statistics, an environment that broadly weighs on valuations. For Coface, the rise in rates represents a backdrop to monitor, even if it does not constitute a direct driver of today's decline.
An RSI Still Far From Oversold Territory, With Three Moving Averages Supporting the Price
From a technical indicators perspective, the configuration remains favorable over the medium term. The price is trading above its three moving averages: the 20-day MA at €16.23, the 50-day MA at €16.09 and the 200-day MA at €15.63, with respective spreads of 2.16%, 3.05% and 6.08%. These levels form a substantial technical cushion, and today's pullback does not compromise their breakthrough. The RSI at 63 remains in positive territory, far from an oversold signal, which reflects an upward momentum still intact despite the session's correction.
The identified support at €15.82 remains more than 4% below the current price. The next resistance level to watch is at €17.49, approximately 5.5% above the current price.
