Coface Share Falls 2.5%, Bucking the Trend of a Rising SBF 120
The Paris-based credit insurer is losing ground on Monday while the CAC 40 and SBF 120 advance during the session, signaling a notable divergence with the general market trend. The decline nevertheless fits within a context of solid performance in recent weeks, with the stock recording significant gains over both one-month and three-month periods.
A Sharp Decline Ranking Among the Largest SBF 120 Losers
Coface is down 2.46% to €17.06 during the session, compared to a gain of 0.76% for the SBF 120 and 0.83% for the CAC 40. This decline ranks the stock among the largest losers of the SBF 120, in a market otherwise oriented upward. The latest close stood at €17.49, a level that now corresponds to the technical resistance identified on the stock.
Despite today's decline, the recent momentum remains favorable: the stock is posting a gain of 7.23% over one week and 7.84% over one month, bringing quarterly performance to over 12%. This corrective movement is therefore occurring from elevated levels, following a series of bullish sessions.
A Pronounced Overbought RSI While the Stock Remains Well Anchored Above Its Moving Averages
From a technical indicators perspective, the stock is trading at €17.06, representing a 6.16% premium above the 20-day moving average at €16.07 and 6.49% above the 50-day moving average at €16.02. The 200-day moving average at €15.59 is even further away, sitting nearly 9.5% below the current price, which reflects an intact underlying bullish dynamic. Conversely, the RSI at 78 signals a pronounced overbought configuration, consistent with the rebound accumulated in recent weeks.
Such an RSI level does not mechanically presage a correction, but it reflects selling pressure awakening after a rapid move. The support threshold at €15.82 remains far below the current price, leaving comfortable room if consolidation were to extend. Regarding results, during the publication of first-half 2026 results on July 30, the company had reaffirmed its main financial objectives while adopting a cautious tone, notably by not confirming the 50 basis point contribution from information services to RoATE in 2027.
