Colas Rail Secures €104M Contract for Line 9 of Santiago Metro
Colas Rail has won a contract involving studies, supply, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems and the SCADA system for the upcoming Line 9 of the Santiago Metro in Chile. The contract, valued at approximately 104 million euros, is part of a significant urban mobility project for the Chilean capital.
Electrical and SCADA Systems for Line 9
Following an international tender issued by the Santiago Metro, Colas Rail has been awarded the contract for the electrical systems and the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system for the future Line 9 in the Chilean capital. The contract, worth around 104 million euros, includes studies, supply, installation, and commissioning of these critical facilities. The services will notably involve the construction of a distribution center, building eight rectifier substations, installing thirty-nine lighting and power stations, and deploying the SCADA system dedicated to energy, traction, and traction logic.
A Major Infrastructure of Santiago's Metropolitan Network
The upcoming Line 9 of the Santiago Metro is part of a total investment estimated at 2.5 billion euros. This new 27 km long infrastructure will include 19 stations and a maintenance and storage center. It will be connected to seven existing lines and will form a new north-south structural axis for the Chilean capital, with the first section expected to be operational by 2030. Colas Rail will also be responsible for maintaining all these facilities for a period of 20 years.
A Consolidated Position in the Chilean Railway Sector
Colas Rail is strengthening its presence in Chile with this new award. Over the past decade, Colas Rail teams in Chile have contributed to the construction of Lines 3 and 6 of the Santiago Metro, as well as extensions to Lines 2 and 3. Since 2016, they have also been maintaining the entire metropolitan network, which currently includes seven lines, 149 km of double track, and 143 stations. In parallel, Colas Rail is involved in the development of the Chilean national railway network by providing the supply and installation of the railway track and catenary on one of the sections of the future Alameda-Melipilla line for the public company EFE.
