Coty extends Marc Jacobs license, term extended to 40 years
Coty announced on November 4, 2026 a long-term extension of its Marc Jacobs license, agreed with WHP Global and G-III Apparel Group, co-owners of the brand. The agreement comes a few months after the launch of Marc Jacobs Beauty makeup at Sephora, whose retail sales already exceed targets, according to the group.
A partnership established in 2003, expanded to beauty in 2023
The agreement extends a partnership begun in 2003 between Coty and Marc Jacobs, a brand jointly owned by WHP Global and G-III Apparel Group. Coty does not own the brand: it operates it under license, which makes the duration of this contract a central factor in its activity on the brand.
The scope has evolved over time. Initially centered on fragrance, it was extended to beauty in 2023, then Marc Jacobs Beauty was relaunched under Coty's auspices in 2026, bringing this collaboration into makeup. The Daisy hair and body mists, launched in 2026, completed the range.
A license secured for the decades to come, according to Coty
According to the press release's heading, the extension gives the license a term of 40 years. Coty states that it secures one of the core brands of its Prestige portfolio “for the decades to come” and strengthens the long-term visibility of this portfolio.
The group sees this as an opportunity to extend Marc Jacobs Beauty to new markets and to broaden its presence in makeup. It includes these expected benefits among its forward-looking statements, which are subject to risks and uncertainties.
On the owners' side, Morris Goldfarb, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of G-III Apparel Group, stated: “The renewed agreement reflects our shared confidence in the long-term potential of Marc Jacobs and our ambition to develop the brand around the world.”
Fragrance and makeup: rankings highlighted by Coty
Coty launched Daisy Marc Jacobs in 2007, then Perfect Marc Jacobs in 2020, which became the top prestige fragrance launch of the year in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. Daisy Wild followed in 2024, ranked the top launch of the year in the United Kingdom and the United States.
According to the group, Marc Jacobs fragrances now rank among the top 10 to 15 women's prestige fragrances in these four countries. Distributed in hundreds of Sephora stores and online, the makeup ranks among the top 20 brands at Sephora in the United Kingdom and in the ANZ region (Australia and New Zealand).
In the United States, eyeliner and eyeshadow rank among the top five products in their category at Sephora. Markus Strobel, Executive Chairman and Interim Chief Executive Officer of Coty, stated: “We are pleased to extend this successful partnership and to write the next chapter of Marc Jacobs Beauty.”
