Ontex expands its multi-liquid range for private label brands in Europe
The Belgian hygiene products manufacturer starts from a finding drawn from its studies: after childbirth, then during perimenopause and menopause, several protection needs can overlap.
It has made this the basis of a range intended for European retailers, which can sell it under their own brand, according to a press release published on 3 November 2026.
A panty liner, briefs, then multi-liquid sanitary pads
“Multi-liquid” protection consists of absorbing several types of fluids with a single product, instead of addressing each need separately. Ontex targets urinary leakage, menstruation, vaginal discharge and perspiration. After a panty liner launched earlier in the year, the group has added absorbent briefs to its range.
These briefs were recently qualified for post-partum and perimenopause protection needs, and multi-liquid sanitary pads are expected to follow. They incorporate the group’s patented X-Core channel technology and combine the cut of a classic undergarment with a thin, flexible absorbent core.
Ontex justifies this range extension with its own studies. According to the group, 78% of respondents noticed changes in their bladder function during perimenopause or menopause. Among users of absorbent protection products, 54% have more than one need at the same time, and 62% see a clear benefit in a product covering several types of fluids.
“Women’s needs don’t always fit neatly into a single category,” said Tatiana Bumachar Carvalho Pastori, Adult Hygiene Category Manager at Ontex. She believes that combining the group’s expertise in feminine hygiene and adult incontinence makes it possible to design solutions “that evolve with what women need at different stages of their lives.”
Products developed for private label brands
The group is developing these products with retailers, for their private label brands. It states that its aim is to make multi-liquid protection accessible to more women, at an affordable price.
Price is among the purchasing criteria identified by the Vypr study. Among the women surveyed, 44% consider an affordable price important, alongside comfort (51%) and odour protection (45%). In addition, 41% say they have changed their purchasing habits because of cost.
“Innovation starts with understanding what consumers really need, rather than starting from traditional product categories,” said Lilian Girlea, head of the Europe region at Ontex. According to this statement, the aim is to combine technological know-how with close collaboration with distributors.
The Dynata study was conducted in 2025 among 2,500 respondents in the United Kingdom and Germany, including users and carers. The Vypr study was conducted in the United Kingdom in September 2026 among approximately 490 women aged 45 and over, in perimenopause or menopause.
