Crossject: operating loss of €8.9 million in the first half, BARDA adds $4.7 million for Zepizure
In its financial statements for the first half of 2026, Crossject detailed the industrial preparation of its first deliveries, the pediatric extension of its programme conducted with the US agency BARDA, and the strengthening of its equity, accompanied by an expansion of its governance.
Zepizure: adult authorisation targeted, pediatric component funded by BARDA
During the first half of 2026, Crossject continued with the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) the regulatory work relating to Zepizure (Zeneo Midazolam 10 mg), with a view to an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). The company describes this authorisation as its “main short-term objective”.
Obtaining it is notably a condition for the availability of additional bank financing of €2.0 million, as well as for the start of the first commercial sales under the contract signed with BARDA.
On 23 September 2026, an amendment (modification no. 4) consolidated the pediatric development plan, in line with FDA recommendations. BARDA is providing additional non-dilutive funding of $4.7 million, extends the contract until 21 June 2030, and brings total funding for the development of Zepizure to $48.0 million.
This work, which includes a pediatric clinical study, is independent of the EUA application for the adult indication. The contractual purchase of 306,000 adult auto-injectors and 54,000 pediatric auto-injectors, for $60.84 million, exercisable upon FDA authorisation, remains unchanged.
Inventories built up, equity back in positive territory and expanded management board
In this context, Crossject continued its industrial investments and began building up component inventories: purchases reached €1,670 k over the half-year, compared with €703 k a year earlier. Relying on geographically nearby partners and developing its own production sites remain the preferred options.
The operating loss amounted to €8,937 k, compared with €5,139 k in the first half of 2025, a gap attributed mainly to lower BARDA billing (€2,532 k versus €6,557 k). The first half of 2025 had been concentrated on a validation campaign and a clinical study.
On 22 May 2026, Crossject carried out a capital increase with warrants (BSA), for a gross amount of €15,008 k. Its cash position stood at €12,345 k at 30 June 2026, compared with €5,080 k at 31 December 2025, and its equity returned to positive territory at €2,975 k.
On the governance side, on 24 September 2026 the management board proposed to the supervisory board the appointment of three new members: Olivier Lacombe, Didier Morin and Lionel Seltz, who has held the position of chief financial officer since January 2026. All three will continue to perform their operational duties.
