ENGIE Announces Financial Closure of Its First Offshore Wind Farm in Poland
ENGIE, through its joint venture Ocean Winds, equally owned with EDP Renewables, has announced the financial closure of the BC-Wind project, its first offshore wind farm in Poland. This key milestone allows the group to move the project into its construction phase, supported by funding of approximately 2 billion euros. The structure is based on a solid consortium including the European Investment Bank, the Spanish Instituto de Crédito Oficial, and thirteen commercial banks, confirming confidence in this strategic offshore infrastructure.
Located in the Baltic Sea, 23 kilometers north of the Pomeranian coast, BC-Wind will deploy 26 turbines of 14 MW, equipped with Power Boost functionality allowing them to reach 15 MW, for a total capacity of up to 390 MW. ENGIE expects the production of the first megawatts by 2028, aiming to supply renewable electricity equivalent to the consumption of nearly half a million Polish households. The project also represents a strong local industrial commitment: it will be the first Polish offshore wind farm entirely executed from national ports, while cables, onshore infrastructures, and maintenance bases will engage a network of Polish suppliers.
