Engie Wins 400 km of Electrical Lines in Peru for $230M
Engie has secured the development of over 400 km of new electrical transmission lines in Peru under a 30-year concession. This award aligns with the company's strategy to strengthen its portfolio of regulated infrastructure in Latin America.
Four Major Projects in Northern and Central Peru
The four projects awarded following a tender organized by ProInversión under the public-private partnership model include the construction of more than 400 kilometers of new transmission lines, the establishment of six new electrical substations, and the expansion of ten existing facilities. Located in the regions of Piura, Lambayeque, Junín, and Ayacucho, the infrastructure notably includes the 500 kV Miguel Grau-Pariñas transmission line, the 220 kV Felam-Tierras, Nuevas-Salitral, and Muyurina-Mollepata lines, as well as the new 220/60 kV Palián substation.
$230M Investment for Commissioning in 2031
Representing an investment of over $230M, these projects will help strengthen the Peruvian electrical network, enhance the reliability of the energy system, and promote the integration of renewable energies. After their commercial commissioning scheduled for 2031, they will benefit approximately 1.6 million people. With these new projects, Engie will have nearly 650 kilometers of transmission lines in operation or under development in Peru.
Regional Expansion Confirmed by Successes in Brazil
This award reinforces the group's presence in a strategic market and confirms its leading position in electrical infrastructure in Latin America. It is part of a sustained growth dynamic, notably illustrated by the auctions won in Brazil during the ANEEL tender in March 2026. Today, Engie owns and operates 6,000 km of transmission lines and 55 electrical substations in Latin America. In addition, 1,600 km of lines and 25 substations are currently under construction. The group aims to have 10,000 km of transmission lines in operation by 2030.
