Engie Wins Its First Hybrid Solar and Storage Project in India
The French energy group has secured a project combining 200 MW of photovoltaic solar capacity and 100 MW of battery storage, according to the press release. This marks its first hybrid installation in the country.
The project, awarded as part of a national tender by the Solar Energy Corporation of India, pairs 200 MW of photovoltaic solar production with a 100 MW and 600 MWh battery storage system, the company states. This setup will enable the storage and delivery of up to six hours of renewable energy. The installation aims to provide continuous clean electricity, thus contributing to the stability of the Indian electrical grid. The project is scheduled to be operational by 2028, following development, engineering, procurement, and regulatory approval phases.
