Eutelsat share price plunges 3.30%, international context undermines weekly rebound
Eutelsat Communications declines sharply this Wednesday in a Paris market under pressure, despite two major strategic announcements published the previous day on the IRIS² program and the Greenland deployment. The stock remains caught between a negative monthly dynamic and fundamentals in full transition between its historical geostationary orbit activity and its growing presence in LEO.
A decline of 3.3% that is part of a deep quarterly correction of nearly 38%
Eutelsat Communications is down 3.3% during trading to return to €1.89, in an SBF 120 itself declining by 1.83%. Today's decline is part of a much broader underlying movement: over one month, the stock loses 7.56%, and over three months, the decline reaches 37.52%. The gain of 8.65% recorded over the week, which notably reflected the rebound on Monday, September 7, is not enough to stop the underlying trend.
Over one year, the stock remains down 14.9%. The current trading context also weighs on the entire market: the CAC 40 is down 1.89%, in a climate of persistent geopolitical tensions that fuel nervousness in European markets. The stock's one-month volatility, at 21.03%, reflects the amplitude of recent swings without this level being unusual for a stock of this size and profile.
Moving averages under resistance confirm technical pressure on the stock
The price at €1.89 finds itself below its three moving averages, with significant gaps: the MA20 at €1.94 is already 2.60% above the price, the MA50 at €2.11 widens a gap of 10.45%, and the MA200 at €2.34 is 19.25% higher. This configuration illustrates the depth of the correction from spring levels, when the stock had briefly passed €3 in May. The RSI at 49 remains for now in a neutral zone, which does not signal any particular selling exhaustion at this stage. The support at €1.74 constitutes the next identifiable low reference, while resistance at €2.22 still appears distant given the current gap.
On a fundamental level, the annual accounts as of June 30, 2025 had highlighted the 69.5% growth of LEO activity, which now represents 25% of revenue, while the geostationary segment continues its structural decline. The confirmation of Eutelsat's role as lead on the LEO segment of IRIS² with 330 satellites, announced on September 7, provides visibility for the coming years, but the transition remains long to be valued by the market. The support at €1.74 is the first concrete level to monitor in the current dynamic.
