Inventiva stock declines 27.5% over one month, RSI in oversold territory ahead of earnings
The Dijon-based biotech company specializing in fibrotic and metabolic diseases faces a challenging day, less than twenty-four hours before the publication of its first half 2026 results. The stock is in a context of a market globally unfavorable to growth stocks, while European bond yields remain under pressure.
A decline that extends a monthly slide of nearly 28% below all three moving averages
Inventiva loses 3% during the session at 2.91 €, sinking further into highly deteriorated territory in terms of moving averages. The price is now more than 20% below the 20-day MA at 3.67 € and nearly 24% below the 50-day MA at 3.84 €, while the 200-day MA at 4.31 € remains out of reach at more than 32% above the current price. These three levels form a dense technical wall, as the stock has lost 27.6% over one month and 38.5% over one year.
In this context, the breakdown of the 3.14 € support that occurred on September 22 opened the way to new lows. The RSI at 22 signals an extreme oversold configuration, close to the levels seen during stress episodes on the stock, without this automatically translating into a trend reversal. The stock ranks among the biggest decliners of the SBF 120 this Thursday, in a market where the CAC 40 falls 0.78% during the session, against a backdrop of rising bond yields.
Half-yearly results expected Friday against a backdrop of limited cash and decisive clinical stakes
The first half 2026 results are expected on September 28, which partly explains the pressure exerted on the stock as this publication approaches. During the presentation of H1 2026 results published on July 30, 2026, the company had reported cash of 166 M€ thanks to a share offering of 103 M€ and a financing operation of 75 M€ announced in early June, but with no revenue recorded over the period, compared to 4.5 M€ a year earlier. The company had indicated at that time that its cash horizon did not exceed the end of the second quarter 2027 without additional financing, which constitutes a first-order operational risk.
In parallel, the publication of the results of the Phase 3 NATiV3 pivot study remains expected in the fourth quarter 2026: Chris Benecchi was appointed Chief Operating Officer in early September to oversee this milestone. Friday's session, following this half-yearly publication, will likely be determined by the financial and clinical data contained within it.
