La Française de l'Énergie Acquires Biogas Site Near Oslo for €4.5 Million
La Française de l'Énergie finalized the acquisition of Romerike Biogassanleg AS, a waste treatment and renewable natural gas production unit near Oslo, on June 30, 2026. This transaction, concluded following a sales process initiated by the municipality, strengthens the group's presence in Norway with an immediately revenue-generating asset.
An Operational Asset Acquired for €4.5 Million
La Française de l'Énergie acquired the entire capital of Romerike Biogassanleg AS for €4.5 million, funded through equity. The transaction was finalized on June 30, 2026. The plant, with a nominal capacity of 50,000 tonnes, currently processes 20,000 tonnes of household waste per year and produces 15 GWh of renewable natural gas annually, generating a turnover of more than €5 million.
The site spans 4 hectares near Oslo-Gardermoen Airport and has direct access to municipal biowaste. It is connected to the power grid via a 4 MW line, with available capacity margin prior to the acquisition. The produced gas is monetized through an offtake contract with a major player, notably supplying Oslo's city vehicle fleet.
This acquisition aligns with FDE's strategy to develop renewable natural gas infrastructure in Norway, complementing its organic projects. It is expected to have a positive impact on the group's results from the first year of consolidation.
Increase in Volumes and Production Ramp-up in 2027
FDE plans several immediate initiatives to improve operational performance. The Norwegian subsidiary Alltec will implement measures aimed at increasing processed and sold volumes, as well as cost reductions, with the goal of maximizing EBITDA in anticipation of a production ramp-up by 2027.
In a second phase, the integration of a Cryo Pur liquefaction unit will enable production to reach 75 GWh per year, combining the group's exclusive technology with Alltec's operational expertise. This modernization will be entirely carried out internally. Meanwhile, the construction of the Halsa unit (capacity 120 GWh/year) continues according to schedule with commissioning expected by the end of 2027, followed by the plants in Stavanger and Alver in 2028.
Once these four units are operational, FDE will achieve a total renewable natural gas production capacity of over 400 GWh per year in Norway. This acquisition reinforces the group's 2030 objectives, aiming for an annual turnover of more than €175 million and an EBITDA over €85 million.
