LVMH Stock Rebounds in Morning Trading After Six-Year Low

The luxury group's stock is staging a rebound in mid-morning trading, following an unprecedented low not seen in six years recorded the previous day. This upturn occurs in a turbulent market context, marked by the European Central Bank's interest rate hikes and a surge in oil prices, while two recent analyst revisions have lowered their price targets while maintaining favorable views on the stock.

LVMH Stock Rebounds in Morning Trading After Six-Year Low

A technical rebound after several weeks of marked decline, within a rising CAC 40

LVMH gains 1.07% to €410.85 in trading, after closing at €406.50 the previous day. This rebound is reflected in a CAC 40 advancing 0.61% and placing the stock among the strongest gainers of the Paris index. However, the backdrop remains deteriorated over longer horizons: the stock is down 4.69% over the week and nearly 15% over one month, widening a notable underperformance relative to the broader market. The chart configuration illustrates this persistent fragility.

The price remains well below its three moving averages: the 20-day MA at €443.75, the 50-day MA at €466.79, and the 200-day MA at €513.35, representing a gap of approximately 20% from the latter. The RSI at 27 signals a marked oversold configuration, consistent with the amplitude of the decline accumulated since the beginning of the month. The support level at €406.50, precisely the closing level of the previous day, now constitutes the immediate bearish reference to monitor. The resistance at €486.90 remains, for its part, very distant from current price levels.

Two analyst revisions took place at the beginning of the week. Oddo BHF lowered its price target from €590 to €524 on September 10, while maintaining its opinion at "outperform". The target implies an upside potential of approximately 27% relative to the current price. The day before, HSBC had for its part brought its target to €490, while revising its opinion from "buy" to "hold"; the target nonetheless corresponds to a gap of nearly 19% with today's price.

These adjustments come after the publication of first-half 2026 results on July 27, which had highlighted an acceleration of growth in the second quarter but also a negative currency effect of 5% weighing on sales. The group had also flagged a disrupted geopolitical and economic context among its principal risks. On the sector level, Swiss watch exports to China declined 18.5% year-over-year in July 2026, an indicator of persistent pressure on luxury product demand in that region.
