Maisons du Monde: Revenue Down 21.5% in Third Quarter
The third quarter has intensified the decline in Maisons du Monde's business activity. Over the first nine months, the furniture and home decor retailer recorded revenue down 10.9% at comparable perimeter. Over the July to September period alone, the decline reaches 21.0% at comparable perimeter.
The group attributes this drop primarily to temporary delivery delays, which weighed especially on the second half of the quarter, and to a deliberate reduction in promotions. It confirmed its target of 30 million euros in gross savings over the fiscal year. The comparison base was moreover higher: the third quarter of 2025 had grown 5.9% at comparable perimeter.
€176.3M in Sales in Third Quarter, €589.1M Over Nine Months
Maisons du Monde published on October 22, 2026 revenue of 176.3 million euros for the third quarter of 2026, compared with 224.7 million euros a year earlier. This represents a decline of 21.5% on a reported basis and 21.0% at comparable perimeter. The group's gross merchandise value (GMV) fell 17.7%, to 211.8 million euros.
Over the first nine months of the year, sales stand at 589.1 million euros, compared with 669.2 million euros over the same period in 2025. The decline is 12.0% on a reported basis and 10.9% at comparable perimeter, following a 4.4% decline at comparable perimeter over the first nine months of 2025.
All regions are affected. France declined 21.1% in the third quarter, to 95.1 million euros, and international markets declined 22.0%, to 81.2 million euros. By product category, home decor fell 20.6% and furniture declined 22.7%.
Online Sales Down 30.3%, Stores Down 18.3%
The online channel is the most affected. Its sales fell 30.3% in the third quarter, to 42.6 million euros, compared with a decline of 11.8% in the first half. The breakdown shows two distinct trends: sales from the MdM website dropped 35%, while the marketplace limited its decline to 4%. The group also notes that it adjusted its search engine advertising spending during the quarter.
Stores declined 18.3% on a reported basis and 17.3% at comparable perimeter, to 133.7 million euros. Their share of sales increased from 72.8% to 75.9% over one year. According to the group, furniture was more sensitive than home decor to stock-outs and lower promotional intensity.
The company places these figures within a declining market. In France, store traffic has fallen 4% since the beginning of the year (Retail Int panel) and the furniture market has declined 5% (IPEA). Over the same period, Maisons du Monde's sales in France fell 11.5%. The group specifies that its revenue also reflects its commercial discipline, intended to protect gross margin.
Gradual Return to Normal Deliveries Expected in Fourth Quarter
For the end of the fiscal year, Maisons du Monde indicates it is working with its suppliers on a gradual return to normal deliveries during the fourth quarter. The group expects product availability to normalize by year-end. Marketing actions are also being stepped up to support store and online traffic.
"As anticipated, our third-quarter performance reflects a persistently challenging distribution environment, further aggravated by temporary product availability constraints," said Chief Executive Officer François-Melchior de Polignac. The group also highlights an increase of 10.8 points in its customer satisfaction indicator (NPS) between 2023 and 2026. It also reports a structural reduction in its inventory, accelerated by delivery delays.
On the cost front, the company indicates that reduction measures were implemented in the third quarter. At the end of the first half, it reported 15 million euros in gross savings, following the refinancing concluded in July 2026. The target of 30 million euros in gross savings over the entire 2026 fiscal year is confirmed. The group presents this target as a means to partly offset the decline in sales and to permanently lower its break-even point.
