OL: Mads Bidstrup Transfers from Salzburg for €10.5M, Contract Until 2031
Olympique Lyonnais announces the signing of Danish midfielder Mads Bidstrup from RB Salzburg. The transfer is valued at €10.50M, with additional potential bonuses and a stake in future capital gains.
A Midfielder Trained in Scandinavia and Proven in Austria
Mads Bidstrup, aged 25, began his training in Denmark before continuing his development in Germany and England, where he started his professional career with Brentford. He contributed to the club's promotion to the Premier League at the end of the 2020/2021 season. In 2022, he returned to Denmark to play for FC Nordsjælland, where he teamed up with Ernest Nuamah. In the summer of 2023, he joined RB Salzburg, where he played 116 matches over three seasons, distinguishing himself with his work rate, intensity, and impact. At Salzburg, he experienced Champions League football and earned his first call-up to the Danish national team.
A Five-Year Contract with Bonuses and Profit-Sharing
The transfer fee amounts to €10.50M, which could be supplemented by up to €3M in bonuses and a 10% share in any potential future capital gain. Mads Bidstrup commits to Olympique Lyonnais until June 30, 2031. He will reunite at OL with his compatriot Noah Nartey, with whom he has previously played in the youth national teams. Bidstrup becomes the fifth Danish player in the history of the club.
