Renault Overtakes Stellantis in Market Share in March with 60,140 Registrations
The French light vehicle market totaled 209,302 registrations in March 2026. Renault Group recorded 60,140 units, up 15.85% year-on-year, bringing its monthly market share to 28.73% compared to 27.12% cumulatively since January (133,076 registrations, +0.27%).
28.73% Market Share in March: Renault Moves Ahead of Stellantis
The highlight of the month is Renault Group surpassing Stellantis in market share. With 60,140 registrations, the diamond-logo group achieved a share of 28.73%, compared to 28.05% for Stellantis, which registered only 58,700 units (+2.87% year-on-year). The gap in dynamics is clear: Renault Group's 15.85% growth significantly outpaces its rival's 2.87%, indicating a notable relative outperformance. From January to March, the group's growth remains modest at +0.27%, but the strong acceleration in March could influence the quarterly trend for shareholders tracking Renault's stock (FR0000131906) on Euronext Paris.
Renault Brand Drives Growth, Dacia Declines in Annual Cumulative
The Renault brand is largely responsible for the group's dynamics in March with 44,400 registrations, an increase of 17.27% year-on-year and a market share of 21.21%. Since January, the brand has totaled 101,522 units (+7.28%), confirming a favorable cycle. Dacia also had a positive March with 15,054 vehicles (+11.26%), but the annual cumulative remains in marked decline at 30,157 registrations, down 17.66% compared to the same period in 2025. This drop in the low-cost brand mechanically improves the group's mix in favor of higher unit value vehicles. In the niche segment, Alpine continues its upward trajectory with 686 registrations in March, up 31.42% year-on-year, a still marginal volume but with an ascending trajectory.
