Technip Energies Secures EPCIC Contract Over €1 Billion for FLNG Coral Norte (Mozambique)
Technip Energies, in partnership with JGC and Samsung Heavy Industries, has been selected by Mozambique Rovuma Venture for the engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of the Coral Norte project, a floating liquefied natural gas terminal off the coast of Mozambique. This agreement is part of the strategy to double the capacity of the Coral hub.
An EPCIC Contract Exceeding One Billion Euros
Technip Energies has won the engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) contract for the Coral Norte FLNG project. The announcement describes this agreement as 'major' for the company, reflecting a value exceeding €1 billion in revenue for Technip Energies. This amount represents the combined value of all contracts awarded to the group for the Coral Norte project, including previously announced agreements. The agreement was recorded in the second quarter of 2026 in the Project Delivery segment. The project is developed by Eni and its partners CNPC, ENH, XRG, and KOGAS. Coral Norte is designed as an enhanced replica of Coral Sul, the first development of the Area 4 gas block in Mozambique's deep waters.
A Production Capacity of 3.6 Million Tons per Year
The Coral Norte terminal is designed to produce approximately 3.6 million tons of liquefied natural gas per year (Mtpa). This expansion doubles the total capacity of the Coral hub, reaching 7 Mtpa. This doubling positions Mozambique among the top three liquefied natural gas producers in Africa. The project relies on a replication approach that leverages the common gas composition between the two developments and their deep-water location, in order to enhance execution certainty and operational performance. This standardization of the project delivery model offers a path of reduced risk growth with greater predictability at each stage.
Capitalizing on the Experience of Coral Sul
Technip Energies benefits from the experience gained during the earlier development of Coral Sul to enhance the execution of Coral Norte. Arnaud Pieton, CEO of Technip Energies, stated that 'the Coral Norte project reflects the confidence of Eni and its partners in our FLNG execution capabilities and in the operational performance of Coral South FLNG.' The group emphasizes that this 'design one, build many' approach demonstrates how a standardized model can accelerate the delivery of large-scale offshore projects. This approach contributes to the rapid deployment of new liquefied natural gas capacities, enhancing global energy diversification and energy security.
