Michelin Expands Its Mountain Bike Tire Range with Two New Lines
French tire manufacturer Michelin has announced the launch of two new tire ranges designed for mountain bikes, available in the American and Canadian markets.
Introduction of Two New Product Lines
The company is rolling out two new product lines for mountain biking enthusiasts, according to a press release issued on January 7. The first, named Wild Enduro Performance Line, targets enduro riders seeking a balance between performance, comfort, and reliability. The second range, E-Wild Performance Line, is specifically aimed at users of electric mountain bikes. These new tires leverage the expertise developed by Michelin with professional cycling teams, states Brandon Chapel, head of Michelin's bicycle brand for North America. Both ranges are offered in various sizes compatible with 29-inch and 27.5-inch wheels, covering a broad spectrum of configurations.
Features of the Wild Enduro Performance Line
The Wild Enduro Performance Line includes a dual-ply 33 TPI casing designed to provide progressive rebound and stable handling. The manufacturer has equipped these tires with extended side protection, from the bead to the tread, and a technology named Pinch Protection aimed at reducing pinch flats and sidewall tears. The combination of Magi-X and Gum-X compounds in a dual-compound technology aims to optimize rolling efficiency while maximizing cornering grip during descents, the press release details. The range is available in several versions depending on the usage conditions, with models for soft mixed, hard mixed terrains, and rear-specific use.
Characteristics of the E-Wild Performance Line
The E-Wild Performance Line caters to the specific needs of electric mountain bikes, which impose different stresses on the tires. This line draws on technologies developed for the E-Wild Racing Line, the company claims. The dual-compound tread, combining Gum-X and Magi-X technologies, seeks to balance grip, rolling efficiency, and tire longevity. Anti-pinch and puncture protection features have been integrated to ensure durability across the tire. Low-pressure reinforcements allow users to adjust air pressure to optimize grip according to the conditions of use. Michelin notes that these new products are part of a history of over 130 years of innovation in the cycling industry.
