SES stock rebounds after hitting low of €4.82, RSI in extreme oversold territory
The Luxembourg-based satellite operator's share price is recovering during the session, following a breach below a key technical threshold that momentarily drove the price toward a low of €4.82. This rebound occurs against a backdrop of severe quarterly pressure, with the stock having lost nearly 30% over the past month.
A session rebound amid RSI in pronounced oversold zone
SES gains 1.52% to €4.93 during the session, after briefly breaking through its support level at €4.85 to touch €4.82 before recovering. This test of the threshold, followed by a return above it, illustrates the fragility of the configuration: the stock remains well below all three moving averages, trading 9% below the 20-day MA (€5.42) and nearly 25% below the 50-day MA (€6.61). The RSI at 21 signals an extreme oversold configuration, rarely reached, which reflects the exhaustion of selling pressure accumulated over several weeks without necessarily guaranteeing a reversal. The underlying trend remains decidedly downward: SES has lost 44.55% over three months, in a European market that itself is posting slight gains, with the CAC 40 up 0.46% and the SBF 120 advancing 0.44% during the session.
Disappointing half-year results and diversification strategy to watch
SES's decline over the month is partly explained by first-half 2026 results published on July 30: while revenue more than doubled in reported terms to €1.6 billion thanks to Intelsat's integration, adjusted EBITDA margin contracted by 8.1 percentage points and the group posted an adjusted net loss of €89 million. On a comparable basis and at constant exchange rates, revenue actually declined by 5%, which weighed on investor sentiment. In this context, the company is seeking to diversify its growth drivers: an expanded investment in Elveo Mobile, announced on August 17, 2026, targets direct satellite-to-phone connectivity services and connected objects.
SES had also signed an agreement with Starlab on July 30 to connect a commercial space station via its MEO O3b mPOWER constellation, and secured a multi-orbit connectivity contract with LATAM Airlines covering more than 60 aircraft. The stock warrants monitoring with respect to the €7.47 resistance level, which is far from current levels.
