Veolia Environ. stock slides toward its 200-day moving average, lowest levels in several months
The utility services group stock retreated on Thursday in a declining Paris market. This decline brings monthly losses to nearly 10%, pushing the price back to levels unseen in several months.
A decline that pushes Veolia below its three reference moving averages
Veolia Environ. lost 2.68% to €33.00 during the session, compared to €33.91 at the previous close. The decline places the stock well below its 20 and 50-day moving averages, respectively at €34.45 and €35.70, representing gaps of 4.2% and 7.6%. The price also fell below the 200-day MA at €33.27, with a now very tight gap of 0.81%.
This long-term floor constitutes the immediate area of interest: holding below the 200-day MA would extend the technical deterioration already visible for a month. The RSI at 37 is approaching oversold territory without reaching it, signaling a gradual exhaustion of selling momentum, consistent with the monthly decline of 9.81%. Over one year, the stock remains up 15.1%, which qualifies the short-term movement reading.
Solid half-year results in the background, amid CAC 40 pressure
The session occurred in an unfavorable index context: the CAC 40 declined 0.95% during the session, and the SBF 120 fell 0.87%. Veolia ranks among the largest declines in the Paris index, with a loss exceeding that of most of its peers. This movement follows the publication on July 30, 2026, of solid half-year results: EBITDA had increased 5.5%, group net income by 3.8%, with margin improvements at all levels.
Current pressure on the stock appears therefore less linked to fundamentals than to the broader market context, in which defensive stocks such as utility services are not exempt on Thursday. At the publication of 2025 full-year results (February 26, 2026), management had confirmed organic EBITDA growth of 5% to 6% for 2026 and current earnings per share growth of at least 8% at constant exchange rates. The 200-day MA at €33.27, now slightly above the price, remains the reference level to monitor in order to assess whether the decline stabilizes or widens.
