Afyren exceeds 1,000 tonnes of biobased acids and confirms 2026 target
The biobased acids producer presented an update on the ramp-up of its Afyren Neoxy plant in the Grand Est region, confirming its 2026 production target and outlining its commercial trajectory for the end of the year.
More than 1,000 tonnes of acids produced since launch
Afyren published on August 27, 2026 an update on the operational performance of its Afyren Neoxy plant, its first biorefinery located in the Grand Est region.
Since the beginning of the ramp-up phase initiated in June 2025, the plant has exceeded the threshold of 1,000 tonnes of biobased acids produced. Of this total, more than 200 tonnes have been produced since operations restarted in July 2026, alongside a significant volume of associated fertilizer. According to the company, this milestone confirms the transition to the commercial industrial stage.
Work carried out in June 2026 contributed to increasing the demonstrated production capacity, defined as the volume actually produced over a given period relative to nominal capacity. This capacity was pushed to 30% on several occasions, with a peak of 40% over 48 hours, compared to a peak of 20% achieved before this work.
The company indicates that the challenge now lies in maintaining these levels over extended production periods, through improved industrial control and enhanced reliability. Afyren notes that the performance of this phase remains below the expectations of its teams, with corrective measures currently being deployed.
Revenue doubling expected in the second half
Afyren confirmed its target of moving from production in hundreds of tonnes in 2025 to production in thousands of tonnes in 2026.
The group aims for at least a doubling of Afyren Neoxy's revenue in the second half compared to the first half of 2026. In the first half, the plant recorded total billings of approximately 1 million euros.
The company reports new commercial contracts in the process of being finalized, leveraging increased production and an offering positioned on supply chain security and decarbonization issues for its customers. The demonstrated production capacity is calculated on the basis of the full initial capacity of 16 kt.
Operations maintained during heat wave episodes
Afyren indicates that the plant's process and its water recycling system demonstrated their adaptability during a period of heat wave and water stress.
According to the company, this production water recycling system allowed it to continue its activities, while other industrial operators are experiencing water restrictions and supply problems that can lead to force majeure situations.
Founded in 2012 and listed on Euronext Growth Paris since 2021, Afyren employed 140 people at the end of 2025 across its sites in Lyon, Clermont-Ferrand and Carling Saint-Avold.
