Biotalys receives Dutch green light to test Evoca NG on 350 hectares
The Dutch plant protection products regulator (Ctgb) has authorised Biotalys, listed on Euronext Brussels, to have its next-generation biofungicide candidate tested by growers on commercial areas. According to the press release published on 3 November 2026, crops harvested from these plots may enter the food chain.
Tomatoes, cucumbers and strawberries: an expanded programme against two fungal diseases
The authorisation covers trials conducted by growers on a maximum of 150 hectares of tomatoes, 150 hectares of cucumbers and 50 hectares of strawberries. Biotalys states that this setup significantly expands the scale of its demonstration programme from previous years, conducted with Evoca, its first-generation product.
The trials are intended to assess Evoca NG against botrytis (grey mould) and powdery mildew, two fungal diseases that can reduce crop yield and quality. Biotalys is targeting its product at growers whose conventional solutions face resistance, are being gradually withdrawn or are no longer authorised.

For Carlo Boutton, chief executive officer, this authorisation constitutes "an important step" and should provide "real-world validation" of the group's first commercial product, whose development and production optimisation are ongoing. He also sees it as a reflection of the "growing confidence" of regulators in the Agrobody technology.
Dutch growers have already used Evoca in previous trials: Brookberries applied it on 3.7 hectares of strawberries as a replacement for a synthetic fungicide, and De Peelkroon used it for the second consecutive year against powdery mildew. Both have expressed interest in the new programme.
These tests aim to familiarise farmers with the technology and support early adoption, ahead of the expected registration and launch in Europe in 2029. Biotalys is also targeting the United States with the same timeline, on a combined market estimated at approximately $1.1 billion (Kynetec 2020 and Biotalys data).
Evoca NG shares the same active ingredient as Evoca, registered by the EPA in the United States in December 2025, then in Florida and California in 2026, and still under review in the European Union. According to the company, approval of Evoca would pave the way for filing the regulatory dossier for Evoca NG.
Biotalys intends to maintain a cost-conscious approach to fully exploit the potential of its unique technology platform
