Bouygues stock rebounds by 1.5% and rises to the top of the CAC 40
Bouygues is resisting the prevailing caution and is climbing the CAC 40 standings this Wednesday morning, as the session is marked by anticipation of the US Federal Reserve's decision on its benchmark rates. JP Morgan raised its price target on the stock on the same day, providing additional support to the valuation.
JP Morgan raises its target to €75 and maintains a positive view on the stock
Bouygues is benefiting this Wednesday from a favorable opinion from JP Morgan, which has raised its price target from €73 to €75, while maintaining its rating at "overweight". This target represents an upside potential of approximately 69% compared to the current price of €44.47, which places the analysts' target well above current valuation levels. In this context, the stock is gaining 1.6% during the session, in contrast to a CAC 40 that is only advancing 0.16%, and ranks among the strongest gainers in the index. By way of fundamental context, when publishing H1 2026 results on July 31st, the group had confirmed its aim for revenue stability at constant exchange rates and maintained its current operating income at a historically high level for the full year.
A limited technical rebound: the stock remains below its three moving averages
Despite today's rebound, the stock is still trading below all of its moving averages. It is quoted at €44.47, which is below the 20-day MA at €44.91 (gap of -0.98%), the 50-day MA at €46.62 (-4.61%) and the 200-day MA at €48.09 (-7.53%). This configuration reflects the pressure that has weighed on the stock for several weeks: the stock is still down 6.67% over one month and 12.25% over three months.
The RSI at 35 remains in the low zone, close to the oversold threshold of 30, reflecting an exhaustion of selling momentum without a confirmed reversal signal. The support level at €43.75, very close to yesterday's closing price (€43.77), constitutes the immediate reference level to watch in case of renewed downward pressure, while the resistance at €49.35 marks the intermediate horizon in case the rebound continues. Vinci and Eiffage, direct comparables in the sector, are also advancing during the session, by 0.68% and 1.14% respectively.
