Mersen stock rebounds 2% and ranks among the strongest gains in the SBF 120
Mersen is climbing back on Wednesday, posting a notable rebound in the SBF 120 index, which is also trending upward. The advanced materials and electrical equipment specialist's stock remains under pressure over longer horizons, but the session provides relief following Monday's sharp decline.
A 2% rebound that places Mersen among the best performers in the SBF 120
Mersen gains 1.97% to €37.18 in trading, ranking among the strongest gainers in the broader index, which itself advances 0.45%. This rebound contrasts with the underlying trend over recent weeks: the stock is still down 9.14% over one month and 16.64% over three months, reflecting persistent selling pressure over the period. Over one year, however, performance remains solid at close to 56%, illustrating the ground covered since autumn 2025 levels.
Today's session must also be placed in its market context: the Fed is widely expected to raise its key rates by 25 basis points, a monetary tightening that increases financing conditions for industrial groups exposed to investment. Mersen, whose activities span equipment for semiconductors, energy, and chemicals, is not immune to a hardening of capital costs. Furthermore, today's Chinese data shows industrial production on the rise but domestic consumption struggling, which weighs on global demand for advanced materials.
Mersen remains below its short-term moving averages despite today's rally
Despite the session's rebound, Mersen remains below its 20-day MA at €37.88 (gap of -1.85%) and its 50-day MA at €38.05 (gap of -2.29%), two levels acting as near-term resistance. This situation contrasts with the 200-day MA at €31.63, well below the current price, which preserves a still-favorable medium-term dynamic. The RSI at 42 remains in neutral territory, with no marked oversold signal despite several weeks of decline, indicating a still-undecided configuration.
On the support side, the stock had nearly touched €36.18 on Monday during the nearly 5% fall that had brought it to this floor level. Wednesday's rebound temporarily moves this risk away, but the two short-term moving averages at €37.88 and €38.05 remain the zone to cross for a stronger technical recovery to materialize. The guidance issued with first-half 2026 results (August 3) targeted revenue of €1,260 million and EBITDA of €204.8 million for the year, objectives that anchor the company's fundamentals in a volatile market context.
