Orange Puts into Service the First European Telesat Gateway in France
The telecommunications operator is hosting at its teleport in Bercenay-en-Othe a ground station intended for Telesat's low Earth orbit satellite constellation, whose global deployment is scheduled for the first quarter of 2028.
This deployment is part of the role of the Bercenay-en-Othe teleport within Orange's global connectivity network.
Orange and Telesat LEO ULC, a subsidiary of Telesat Corporation (Nasdaq and TSX: TSAT), announced on September 17, 2026 the deployment of the first European gateway for the Telesat Lightspeed constellation.
The station is hosted in Bercenay-en-Othe, France, in Orange's teleport certified Tier-4 by the World Teleport Association. Orange ensures connectivity of the ground segment via a secure, very high-speed network connecting the station to the point of presence (PoP) planned by Telesat in Paris.

The gateway constitutes an element of Telesat's ground infrastructure and will support the deployment of the first 225 satellites planned to form the Telesat Lightspeed constellation.
The station includes antennas supplied by Intellian Technologies, enabling a high-capacity, low-latency network architecture. Telesat is designing its network to provide connectivity for enterprise and government customers across Europe.
Global Deployment Scheduled for First Quarter 2028
According to Glenn Katz, Commercial Director of Telesat, the company is continuing to develop its ground infrastructure in advance of a global deployment scheduled for the first quarter of 2028.
Jean-Louis Le Roux, Director of International Networks at Orange, indicated that this collaboration is part of the objective to make Bercenay-en-Othe a European hub for next-generation satellite networks.
