Sanofi Drops Anti-STAT6 Molecule, Biotech Nurix Falls About 38% at Close
The drugmaker has abandoned a phase 1 candidate for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Nurix Therapeutics thereby loses any prospect of milestone payments and royalties on this molecule.
Nurix Deprived of Expected Revenues from SAR448272
Sanofi has terminated the phase 1 trial of SAR448272, an oral molecule designed to degrade the STAT6 protein, and is giving up the program. Nurix Therapeutics, the partner of the French group, announced this on November 3, 2026, according to Economie Matin.
The US biotech will therefore receive nothing further on this candidate: neither payments tied to development, regulatory or commercial milestones, nor royalties. According to Reuters, its stock lost about 38% in trading following the close of Wall Street.
Nurix Maintains Its Funding Horizon Through 2029
The other programs licensed under the agreement remain open for Nurix. It could still receive payments and royalties if Sanofi advanced them to the clinical candidate stage.
The biotech says its cash forecasts are unchanged. As of August 31, it held $1.1 billion in cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities, enough to cover its needs through the second half of 2029.
For Sanofi, this discontinuation comes shortly after the raise of its 2026 targets, announced on October 30. The group then made immunology one of its three priorities, alongside rare diseases and vaccines.
