SPIE signs agreement to acquire 76% of SAR Anlagenbau
SPIE announced, on the evening of October 28, 2026, the signing of an agreement to acquire SAR Anlagenbau GmbH (SAR), an Austrian electrical engineering and automation company. The transaction has not yet been completed: its finalization is expected in early 2027 and remains subject to customary conditions for this type of transaction. Under the terms of the agreement, SPIE will acquire a 76% stake in SAR's capital. Arno Reisinger, chief executive officer and shareholder of the company, will co-invest alongside the group with a stake of up to 24%. He thus remains associated with the capital of the company he leads. Based in Hausmening, Austria, SAR operates on so-called critical industrial and infrastructure projects, throughout their entire lifecycle: design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance. The company employs approximately 230 people and achieved revenue of approximately €100 million in its 2025/26 fiscal year. According to SPIE, the transaction extends its electrical services offering to infrastructures and industrial automation systems in Austria and Germany. The group indicates that it will enable it to offer complete, end-to-end services on complex infrastructure projects. The target's management team remains in place. Chief executive officers Arno Reisinger and Roman Prinz, as well as authorized representatives Anton Baumberger and Daniela Bachinger, will retain responsibility for the company's operational management, combining SPIE's majority takeover with management continuity.
After Clauser, SPIE signs agreement to acquire SAR
SAR's business must be considered in relation to the size of the acquiring group. The specialist in multitechnical services in energy and communications, headquartered in Cergy, achieved consolidated revenue of €10.4 billion in 2025 and consolidated EBITA of €793 million. SPIE also has 55,000 employees, compared with approximately 230 for SAR. Executives from SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria, including its chief executive officer Rainer Hollang, have commented on the acquisition project. This agreement comes several weeks after another transaction. On October 5, 2026, SPIE had announced the acquisition of Clauser, a French family business specializing in high-intensity electrical installations, with revenue of approximately €22 million. With SAR, the group continues its consolidations in electrical and industrial businesses, this time outside France and targeting a company with higher revenue. Rainer Hollang, chief executive officer of SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria, believes that SAR strengthens the group's presence in Austria and Germany, expands its service offering, and brings qualified teams for demanding industrial and infrastructure projects. According to him, the combination should accelerate the group's growth in markets it considers promising and create additional value for customers.
SAR's leader discusses employee access to SPIE's international network
Arno Reisinger presents SPIE as the appropriate partner for the next stage of his company's development. He highlights an expanded range of services for customers and, for employees, new career prospects as well as access to the group's international network of experts. Andreas Christandl, member of the Board of Management of SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria and director of the Austria operating division, attributes SAR's success to the expertise and commitment of its employees. He indicates that the integration should make it possible to expand the offering to customers and strengthen the group's position in its market.
