Carrefour shares rebound 2.5% after a 15% quarterly slump
The retailer recovers sharply in a CAC 40 that is rising strongly, after a session in which the index had already gained ground. The stock nonetheless remains well below its levels of a few weeks ago, following the revision of its annual targets.
A rebound that leaves the stock below its three moving averages
Carrefour shares rose 2.68% to €13.43 intraday, while the CAC 40 gained 2.09%. The move does not change the chart's overall picture: the price remains below the MM20 (€14.68, a gap of -8.55%), the MM50 and the MM200, the last two at -13.83% and -14.76%.
The RSI at 31 signals a stock that is still fragile, after a 12.4% decline over one month. Over the quarter, the drop is 15.35%, which leaves the day's rebound well short of the magnitude of the decline.
The support level at €13.05 is less than 3% from the price, with resistance at €16.65.
Lowered 2026 targets weighing on the stock since mid-October
On October 21, the group lowered its 2026 targets, citing the deterioration of the social and security situation in France. The revision affects the operating margin, adjusted earnings per share and free cash flow.
The stock had lost 14.5% at the opening that day, then fell on October 22 to its lowest level in 150 sessions, while several brokers lowered their price targets.
Within the CAC 40, Carrefour currently holds a mid-table position, far behind the strongest gains posted by Kering, BNP Paribas and Renault. Based on the consensus of the analysts surveyed, the stock trades at about 8.3 times earnings for the current fiscal year. The group's next financial announcement has not yet been scheduled.
