Quadient Expands Parcel Pending Locker Deployment at Third USC Site
Quadient announced on Tuesday the deployment of Parcel Pending smart lockers at the University of South Carolina's campus store. This installation marks the third implementation of these facilities on the campus and aims to improve access to textbooks and course supplies outside traditional hours.
Expansion of an Established Partnership with the University
The University of South Carolina has installed Parcel Pending by Quadient smart lockers for its campus store operations. This move is part of the ongoing relationship between the institution and Quadient, which already supports the campus postal services. The new lockers allow students, faculty, and staff to collect textbooks, course materials, and merchandising items according to flexible schedules, beyond conventional opening hours.
Enhancing Service Experience and Operations
Integrating the lockers into the store's operations reduces waiting times and improves access during peak demand periods. It allows for the automated distribution of thousands of educational materials without queues, particularly useful at the start of the school year. Operationally, the shift to a self-service model frees up store staff to focus on customer interaction and higher value-added activities. Joe Fortune, the university's Director of Business Affairs, notes that 'the lockers have changed the way our team allocates its time. Instead of focusing solely on distribution, staff now have more opportunities for customer engagement and providing superior service.'
Positive Feedback and Expansion Prospects
Initial user feedback has been positive: students appreciate the speed, ease of use, and extended access. The lockers, featuring designs inspired by the university, blend seamlessly into the campus environment. The institution is exploring additional uses to strengthen its relationship with the university community, including the distribution of items on game days or the celebration of student milestones and achievements.
