Safran shares rebound 6.5% over the week after a nuclear contract
The aerospace engine maker rises sharply in trading, in a well-oriented CAC 40. This rebound follows a period of marked decline and comes as the stock has just won a new contract in nuclear deterrence.
A 6.5% weekly rebound, but a monthly performance still very negative
Safran gains 2.56% to €292.30, compared with €285 the previous day, while the CAC 40 rises 1.51%. The stock moves above the midpoint of the index ranking, without being among the largest gainers.
Over one week, it shows +6.45%, which only partly offsets an 11.45% decline over one month. The price remains below its three moving averages: the MA20 at €298.21 is 2% above the price, while the MA50 at €317.80 is 8% above it.
The support at €271.80, broken at the end of October and then retested, remains the reference level below the price. The RSI at 43 is neutral and signals neither oversold nor overbought conditions.
Analysts adjusted their targets at the start of the week: Wells Fargo lowered its target from €390 to €330 and Berenberg from €400 to €340, while maintaining an overweight and a buy rating respectively. Both targets remain well above the current price.
Safran Electronics & Defense wins three navigation programmes for nuclear deterrence
Safran Electronics & Defense announced on November 2 that it had been selected this year for three inertial navigation programmes for the French nuclear deterrence force. Its hemispherical resonator gyroscope (HRG) technology will equip three of the main delivery vehicles.
The subsidiary has been working with this force for more than fifty years. This announcement comes after a quarter during which the stock was weighed down by slower growth in spare parts sales, published with the third-quarter revenue, although the group had confirmed all its annual targets.
On October 23, the publication cost the stock 8.5% during the session. The group has also completed a €375 million share buyback programme, executed at approximately 100% as of October 22.
