Renault Acquires 100% of Flexis, Electric Trafic Expected by Late 2026

Acquisition Completed with Regulatory Approvals

Renault Group has received all the necessary regulatory approvals to acquire the stakes held by its partners in Flexis, thus transforming the company into a wholly-owned subsidiary of the French automaker. Volvo Group was selling a 45% stake while CMA CGM was relinquishing its 10% share. This transaction does not affect the product ambitions or the initial industrial plan defined for the vehicle. The technology of the Trafic Van E-Tech Electric is based on a proprietary skateboard platform capable of integrating an 800 V electric powertrain, combined with a software-defined vehicle (SDV) architecture. Since 2024, Renault's teams have consolidated these technological foundations and will continue the full development of the new electric van and its associated services.

Production at Sandouville, Marketing through Renault Trucks

The manufacturing of the Trafic Van E-Tech Electric will start at the end of 2026 at Renault Group's Sandouville plant in France, as originally scheduled. Starting in 2027, Volvo Group will also market the vehicle through Renault Trucks, thus extending the longstanding partnership between the two groups in the light commercial vehicle segment. This dual marketing strategy continues the established relationship between Renault and Renault Trucks, allowing Volvo to expand its electric portfolio in the urban logistics sector and meet the growing demand for decarbonization.

Challenges of Urban Logistics and Energy Transition

The positioning of the Trafic Van E-Tech Electric in the electric utility vehicle segment addresses the challenges of urban mobility and emission reduction. The vehicle targets professional customers facing the gradual electrification of commercial fleets, a key issue for metropolises subject to increasingly stringent environmental regulations.
